Right, Capt Ted !! They need help and have for the last 2 yrs.. I have had the same problem getting through the blood work, but mine took much longer.. One of the older volunteers said there are so many vets moving to Florida (besides those already here) that the budget got strained, and no one is making any big effort to increase the budget proportionately .. Someone is going to have to wake up sooner or later, unless they are just planning to thin out our V.A. services and try to ignore it all ...

There was an editorial in the N-J this morning that was seconding our motion for the V.A. to take over the hospital.. Too bad the writer had to take a pot-shot and include his slanted politics in the letter, but at least the message about the hospital got a prominent spread today .... Maybe Fred will take this up as his cause instead of pushing for hi-rises on the ocean again .... It would certainly help a helluva lot more people ....

I wonder if Costello has bothered to contact the V.A. about maybe taking over the hospital when it becomes vacant... The clinic here has outgrown its space twice already.. And, before the hospital proposed for Orlando even gets built there will be the need for one in this area anyway... The clinic could be absorbed into the existing hospital facility or continue to operate separately... There is a need for a lot more capacity than is currently available, and it will only increase as the veterans keep rotating ... The V.A. is falling (way) behind in its responsibilities to veterans.. The hospital as a V.A. facility would be a lot faster way to alleviate some of the problems in this area than to go through the never ending headache of building from scratch ... They could be in operation the week after the hospital officially closes ...

The newly enacted 'height limit' in Daytona is no where near as restrictive as it should be, but at least they have something now ... Daytona is plenty trashy looking and too dense along A1A and particularly in the area near the Ocean Center .. Maybe this will stop it from getting too much worse... --- Ya gotta love the comment by a member of the Chamber of Commerce who said, 'But, this ties the hands of developers !!' -- I wonder why he thinks that is a bad idea ?? Sounds like another hyper-development freak who is not interested in what the taxpayers think !! -- Sound familiar ?

If you ever get Costello and his voting bloc to say anything that resembles your previous post, I will buy you the biggest steak you ever had and a good bottle of wine to go with it ... They will not only not say it, they don't even understand the principle... They are too Keynesian in their philosophy of gov't and economics ... They believe gov't should be the impetus behind growth, and therefore should dictate when, where, and whom should profit most... Whenever a market is tampered with in such a manner then it is certain to be distorted or abused in some way.. Ormond is growing at a terrific rate on its own, even without the constant tinkering and fueling by the growth fanatics(including the Chamber of Commerce).. On several occasions Costello has said the infrastructure will not be sufficient soon .. But, it seems he is doing what he can to hasten its obsolescence .. -- Market forces should dictate the viability and pace of growth.. If a project makes sense and a builder/developer can assemble his own package (within existing laws and codes) then Great ... If the project can't stand on its own then the gov't should not be shilling for builders or developers to gain some sort of angle or advantage that is necessary to make it viable ... The voters finally recognized and rebuffed the fallacy in the height-limit vote ....

There are plenty of us who think gov'ts (all phases) have become too large, too expensive, and are not truly representative of the citizens who pay for it all.. Our gov'ts have become too intrusive and are trying to control ever larger portions of our lives.. Gov'ts certainly can't find ways to do things efficiently, so they just keep raising existing taxes, millages, and dreaming up new taxes where possible... -- When people become more self-sufficient, they find ways to be effective, efficient, and are not subject to the abuses of politicians who think it is their mission in life to tax citizens and then spend those taxes on anything and everything including the expansion of gov't....

Please read back over as many of the previous posts as you have time for... 99.9% of the time, the obfix-types are trying to criticize others rather than doing something constructive to help improve Ormond.. Of course, 'improving Ormond' to them means building hi-rises on the oceanfront, building a lot of boring stores and office buildings on the major routes, and raising taxes so there will be more money to waste by City Hall.... Please try to find even ONE post on this blog that tells us of any sane, logical plan by Costello that is responsive to the citizens and not his buddies in development and building ... Try to find any sort of plan to take care of Ormond and its residents ....

The reason the OB-Fix people keep attacking Boyle is because Costello has such a poor performance record.. Costello has done almost nothing positive for Ormond, but he has done plenty that is negative.. The only way Costello's people can make him palatable to the citizens is to demonize the opposition ... Boyle is not willing to play ball with the developers and builders.. He won't prostitute himself the way Costello has, and he is not interested in ignoring the voters and telling them they 'don't understand.'-- History has shown us that voter apathy allows special interest fanatics to get into or retain office.. The Costello people are acting like the election was some sort of landslide, but the fact is the margin was less than 900 votes.. That's a piss-poor showing for an incumbent who says he has the 'vision' and leadership for Ormond.. He made his deals with the builders, and he has to follow through .. The attack on Boyle and CANDO will continue because there is SO MUCH MONEY involved in the continued over-development of Ormond..
